How to prep for an in home session

As an Arizona family photographer, one of my favorite ways to capture memories is with an in home photo session. Whether I am coming to your home for a newborn photo shoot or your kids are a little older I believe having a photo session in your own home is so important to hold onto the memories of the place you raised your family. In home sessions take a little more prep on my clients end so let's list out whats Important.

Lighting

Natural light makes photos magical. Open up the blinds and curtains in those well natural lite rooms. Don’t worry if you feel your home is not perfect, it’s still yours and good lighting makes all the difference.

Tidy Up (Just a Little)

You don’t need to deep clean! Focus on clearing the clutter from the spaces where we’ll shoot most. Most often times I find myself photographing clients in the living room, master bedroom, kitchen and occasionally the nursery. Hide items such as dishes, hampers, and extra charging cords. A simple pick-up keeps the attention on your family and not the laundry pile.

Make it Personal

Your home is already meaningful, so feel free to include little touches like your child’s favorite blanket, your pup curled up on the couch, or family activities like baking cookies or reading books together.

Relax and Enjoy

The best photos come when you’re just being yourselves. Play, laugh, cuddle, and let me capture the real connections that happen naturally in your home. An in-home photo session is the perfect way to capture your family’s story right where life happens every day. If you’re looking for an Arizona family photographer who specializes in lifestyle photography, I’d love to help create photos that feel like home in your home!
